2011 Explorer: North American Truck of the Year

March 18, 2011

The 2011 Ford Explorer – America’s most fuel-efficient full-size SUV – was named 2011 North American Truck of the Year by an international panel of journalists at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Explorer bested Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee, winning more votes than the two of them combined.

The all-new Explorer’s WIN at the North American International Auto Show marks the seventh time and third consecutive year that a Ford vehicle has received this honor.

Ford Explorer – the vehicle that defined a segment – has been completely reinvented, raising customers’ expectations of sport utility vehicle (SUV) fuel efficiency, safety, technology, capability and quality. Explorer offers many cutting-edge new features like Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System (TMS). TMS delivers four-wheel-drive capability with an easy-to-use four-position control switch located on the center console, to better match traction to driving conditions.
