DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) TOP-OFF OFFER
Background
The 2011 F-Series Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel is equipped with advanced new technology to
meet 2010 federal emissions standards. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology
dramatically reduces NOx levels from the emissions system. This technology uses Diesel Exhaust Fluid
(DEF), a clear fluid that is injected into the exhaust system to help convert NOx to nitrogen, a non-toxic
gas.
As part of the vehicle’s maintenance requirements, owners of the 2011 6.7L Super Duty are responsible
for keeping DEF at proper levels in order for the vehicle to operate properly. The vehicle instrument
cluster message center will indicate fluid level in the DEF tank, as well as provide warning messages
when the DEF is low and needs to be refilled. Generally, the DEF tank should be filled during the oil
change service intervals. However, depending on customer use, replenishment may need to occur
more frequently.
